The inside of our Church Agios Georgios(1780) is something you have to
discover yourself. Services are held every other Sunday. Please feel
free to come and join the service and take a look at the marvelous
frescos. Panagia Visokou Monastery is opened once or twice per year,
that I know of, for services.
A hidden treasure is Matsopouloy Bridge, Iakotsoli Stone Bridge and Kasimina Stone Bridge. It is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the trip if you love to see at how things were constructed a long time ago.
Manassis has treasures everywhere you look. One of my father’s favorite location is this little sitting area that can be found when you walk down the path from top of the village or up the path across from the church. Come on by and have a seat, the view is fabulous. My father loved the tranquility of Manassis. Manassis, captured his heart when he first laid eyes on the place in the 1960's. Back then, roads were unpaved and made travel more difficult. In some ways I wish they never paved the road so Manassis can stay a hidden treasure. Another interesting observation in this picture is the irrigation channel on the left side of the picture that villagers use to irrigating their garden. The water comes from a natural spring which is usually collected in a pool and then released by a scheduled date that the community agrees upon.
Doing things the old fashion way! This is the only way to describe how this roof was done. There is nothing to be said about this craftsmanship.
While your are hiking, you may come across this little spot. Look out! This may be a bit more difficult to cross while the snow is melting or during a rainy season. The old story goes, that young kids were recruited to come find colored stones and collect them. Especially the red and green once. Hhhmmm.
This tree holds many memories for myself and for others. Growing up, lots of festivities were celebrated, games were plaid, and conversations were held. Even today it is nice to just sit for a few minutes and reminisce. Many moons ago, and I am not telling you my age, the tree was small enough to fit the band underneath while everyone danced around the tree. If I find an old picture I will ad it to the collection. Today, this is not possible anymore.
